This is Marathon not a Sprint
In the last few days there has been a deluge of social media communication, more WhatsApp group chats than I can shake a stick at, and countless hours of interviews and news stories. My head hurts and my eyes are bleeding from all the screen time.
Initially I was feeling left behind, surely I should be doing more for RunningSpace, more for friends and family, more for the local community, more for my town, MORE for my WORLD!!! But then I remembered: this is a marathon and not a sprint, and I used to be pretty good at those.
What’s the secret of getting to the end of a marathon and finishing strong?
- Pacing. Don’t set off too quickly, enjoy the ride, wave at spectators, don’t freak out if others seem to be going past you. In fact, give them a smug smile, knowing that you will probably overtake them at mile 22.
- Eyes on the prize. Fix your eyes on the bigger goal, a strong finish.
RunningSpace is about relationship through running, suicide prevention, faith, and supporting each other to live life in all its fullness. In the rush to start this Coronavirus Marathon, lets pace ourselves, let’s run the race with perseverance, and let's all finish together, stronger.
